I was talking of IMs. Some use Facebook solely as IM. If I need to message someone from US, I use Discord. If Discord goes down and I want to message them, I use Steam or Telegram instead.
Because if I don't, I start to lose my mind and forget things.
I'm not joking when I say I'm mentally ill, but everyone just thinks it's a joke or a exaggeration anyways.
I'm going to figure out a third party method of accessing and using Steam's chat so I can have concise and stringently logged conversations saved locally to my system.
Other than this I'm probably going full IRC.
You realize that's what everyone treats Discord, right?
Even when I've told people, don't do this. Let's use TeamSpeak 3 or Mumble instead especially since those are C/C++ based VoIP and way more efficient than "WebRTC".

Almost all IMs rely on account based systems, accounts for service holders servers. Simply don't put all eggs in single basket and you should be fine.
I was basically goaded/guilt tripped into using it. Because, you know. It's totally ethical to socially engineer your mentally unhealthy friend to hop on a bandwagon without understanding the risks and implications thereof.
