Suddenly, I can't access any thumbnails or images from the site, short of linking directly to a raw image's static link. Thumbnails in the search don't exist although the length of the page suggests they should as well as the page counter at the bottom, and all profile thumbnails just say "Image Placeholder".

If you are showing up about the image placeholder issue, please list your operating system version and browser version. The version of the browser is the most important for this. Please do not exclude the versions.

If you don't include the versions, then we probably can't help you. Please, for the love of EVERYTHING include the versions!

It's a matter of browser standards(and this one is kind of old even if not always enabled). :( I think I had this because of local storage being disabled. I'll have to search my comment history to find the relevant page on this topic. The blacklisting functionality uses DOM modification as does thumbnails on user avatars. There was a related "Blacklist not working" bug, at beginning of this topic.

I'm on Puffin Pro v5.2.5 on an iPad running iOS 10.3.3. WAY outdated, I know. But Puffin is the only browser I found that lets me play webms, and has always had flash support too. Firefox works for E6, but is suboptimal since it can't play webms or flash files. I haven't changed any settings for Puffin in a long time. It doesn't have many setting to even change.

I am using Puffin Browser Pro 5.2.5. For the same reason as the last person. On IPhone 13 iOS 15.4.1. I can still load everything with google chrome but it’s definitely not my preference to be using it since I can’t play flash games.

You didn't mention checking the other very common cause of this complaint: is your blacklist temporarily disabled?

I did try disabling and re-enabling the blacklist to see if that fixed it, and nothing changed.
And I did say that not all of the blacklisted tags were being ignored. Some are, some aren't.

Well, I copied over your blacklist, went to id:3379912,3379913... and those posts got filtered out.

I'm still having problems seeing images, just a blank screen where they should be displayed or a "place holder" image for thumbnails.
I'm using safari on an iPad 9.3.5

It should probably be made impossible to add the same image to a pool twice, because that causes the navigation bar to send you into a infinite loop.

Ive been noticing that when i post comments that it will post it twice sometimes without me trying to on android. My phone model is a samsung galaxy a42 if that helps. Not sure if the post button is bit sensitive and registering my touches twice or what. I try to hide the duplicate comment since i cant delete it but im not sure if that works as well since when i refresh or leave the page the hidden comment is no longer highlighted in red when i return to it and tapping hide comment makes it red again but refreshing or leaving the page seems to give the same results. I hope this helps with debugging and i dont look foolish because of user error. Lol

I found a possible bug: My account isn't old enough to post comments (on posts) or edit tags, but I can freely edit notes. Is this just a strange but intended designe choice or is something wrong?
Edit: looked it up: tags, flags and notes are all supposed to not work on a less than a week old account. Downvotes too, according to the account page in the help section, yet I'm able to. (I will not test flags for obvious reasons)

You are able to create and edit notes after just 3 days, this is working as intended. Where did you read up on this? It might still contain some outdated information I can fix up.

I didn't have chance to look at it myself, please tell me if you stumble upon another tag where this is the case. Don't fix it though, having something to look at makes figuring it out much easier.

I realised that as soon as I did it... However I did find another example: gooey_eevee_(plushloo)

The wiki shows it as a general tag but on other pages it appears as a character.

However, when I want to add a post to my favorites with this translation, I can't becouse this

Unfortunately, the problem is persisting. Nothing loads on mobile, the image frames don't load don't even load at all, not just the images. The three bar button is also not working. Might be a browser issue, because when I check the "request pc view" view option and disable mobile mode support, it still doesn't load.

Site seams kinda slow since the cloudflare outage, probably nothing, but figured it might be worth mentioning

Some kind of caching issue, the tags page always fetches the the information from the database, while artist/wiki pages have it saved in memcached. I looked around a bit but didn't find an obvious cause for this.

You're using a third-party translating service, this is an issue with them. I can't really help you with that, especially if I don't even know what exactly you are using.

I won't invest time into this, the previous issue impacted about 3-4% of users. Usage from chrome version 42-47 is only at 0.04%. It's a mysterious bug that comes out of the woodwork every once in a while. No idea why it happens.

Getting missing thumbnails on firefox, especially with older posts. Looking closely at what happens, it appears to be a cloudflare related error.
Error code 525. SSL handshake failed. "Cloudflare is unable to establish an SSL connection to the origin server."
Then it says please try again in a few minutes if you are a user, but under the site owner info, it says "It appears that the SSL configuration used is not compatible with Cloudflare."
As that may be relevant, I thought it would be wise to include that.

We're aware of some strange connection related issues, but it appears to be upstream of us. We've contacted people, but it is still ongoing at this time. It primarily impacts people overseas from the US, but some US based connections are also experiencing the problem. For now, the most we can do it wait and hopefully get the right people to resolve it.

Thanks for the reply! I just thought I'd post the most relevant information about it that I could get. It's been on and off for a bit over a week now, I think. Hopefully it gets resolved sooner rather than later.

Is there any reason why the artist tag alliieennss is aliased to invalid_tag? They're not in the DNP list.

There's a different issue now though

animal_crossing -*_(animal_crossing) is definitely returning posts that it shouldn't, and it can't be due to a lack of tag updates, since post #3417115 (for example) was uploaded 2 days ago

This is a limitation of how wildcard matching works. Instead of finding all tags that match, only the first 40 matching tags with the highest post count are actually used in the search. In other words: Only the results of the first page here are exlcuded. This is pretty easy to see when you search for -*e*, which includes many posts you wouldn't expect to match.
This is just how it is, presumably because of performance reasons.

It sounds as if wildcards are expanded in the search expression before the actual search is run, and so the limit encountered here is presumably the standard "can't search more than 40 tags at a time"?

Although that raises the question of whether the site does sneakily support parenthesised logical-or expressions after all, as long as they can be expressed using a wildcard. If you search two wildcarded terms at once, does it behave as expected or does it return results which contain tags matching one of the terms but not the other? I can't think of a good example to test that.

It looks like both wildcarded tags will be thrown in the same bucket, i.e. searching for *a* *b* will give you posts containing tags with either a or b, instead of tags containing a and b.

You can easily confirm this with the search *anthro* *non_exisiting_tag*, which I would expect to give no results, but it does. Searching a single wildcard and negated wildcard tag works as expected though.

my_little_pony -hasbro returns a lot of results despite my_little_pony implicating hasbro, including posts as recent as a few hours ago. Editing the post seems to apply the tag but I've never seen this happen with any other tag.

I'm not certain but this might relate to stopwords in MySQL, other words include "from", "that", "where", "this", "about", "with" etc., all of which are on the MySQL stopwords list.

If that's the case, the reason it works in some places and not others is presumably the type of indexing the search uses.

Some models use a dedicated index column, like the ones you wrote do not work with that. For one reason or another the word myself is simply not present in the index.
I googled around a bit and found https://www.postgresql.org/docs/current/textsearch-dictionaries.html#TEXTSEARCH-STOPWORDS, which explains that extremly common and useless (for searching) words like a and the are intentionally omitted. But myself doesn't strike me as being comparable to that. So it is probably the thing faucet mentioned. No idea that that was even a thing.

For now just do a wildcard search, like you mentioned. This skips the index column.

I suspect that the stemmer and the stopwords systems are interacting here(as designed and intended.) "myself" would be stemmed to "my" and then discarded as a stop word. That's my hypothesis short of pulling apart the lists and debugging it.

Sorting comments by score isn't as efficient as it needs to be, this is just how it is. Anything taking longer than 3 seconds will timeout.

Post changes are limited to only 10_000 results, even though the pagination might suggest otherwise. Kira increased it to 250_000 some time ago, but that was reverted since the performance was terrible.

Do you have an example? The only way I can think of is with a/b pagination, like this: https://e621.net/post_versions?page=b20000000. With this you can go deep into the results, but you need to construct the url yourself.

This was the most recent one I saw. How can you construct the URL yourself? I assume "a/b" refers to "after/before", but what is the number? Is it publicly displayed anywhere?

I can tell you, since I seem to be the only one using these.

The number is the ID of the post version. It's not visible anywhere, but it's exposed in the HTML as a data attribute.
I really wish that there was an easier way of getting a link to all tag changes before a specific one. But alas, there isn't.
