it's supposed to give the posts a rank value based on its score vs how old it is, but it dosn't function perfectly. the order it returns posts in is inconsistent with the values the posts should have.

this was discussed topic #58375, in this thread Donovan DMC shared a userscript that shows the discrepancy.

I've now been a cat owner for a month. And my conclusion is that they're weird creatures. And heckin adorable, my lil girl is such a sweet and silly tabby.

before anything, make sure that the higer quality version is something that the artist made public, and not something leaked from a paysite.

after that just upload the post normally and then flag the old post as inferior.

(there is an actual replacement system so that file of the existing post can be replaced without needing to create a new post, but that system isn't available to everyone and you need to request the perms.)

    If anyone wants it, I've made css close enough to the old version. just copy paste it to customize css in advanced settings.
    it's in the comments of my deleted post #5472892 since blips have a 1000 character limit.

    I approve of the download to fullscreen change, but it can also cannot be modified with css

    The site usually updates once a week. Do you really want to be nagged about every minor change once a week? If you are genuinely that invested, you can see what is being worked on with this open-source site on GitHub, but I doubt the majority of people care that much.

    I'd be very open to suggestions, but in terms of practicality, it's currently not worth it. I really like the idea of a beta site, but that's a colossal amount of extra work for our sole dedicated developer (& the patchwork crew of occasional unpaid volunteer contributors) to manage.

    please please please add a customization option to change it back. I do not like it

    The upvote, downvote, fav, etc buttons now have a shadow and it looks very dated. Also, they made the favorite button yellow now. Why do they keep changing things all the time without informed notice???
