People are still beaten to death for "looking to gay" in 2024. And not just third world countries but in places like Switzerland very recently. By the way your "90%" are the ones that openly identify as things other than straight. Guess how many people would identify as gay without major oppressive forces literally trying to ruin gay peoples lives. but yeah sure just keep sitting on the fence.

But we live in the times of culture war. Such a meme can be seen as an act of aggression against one of the sides. Some people will be offended, and some will even support the supposed attack as justified.

This is pretty much what we see in these comments.

"Gay people are still persecuted! How dare you suggest respecting them straights!"

There's an easy test for such situations: try to replace "men" with any other group of people.

"What's stopping women dressing like that?"
"What's stopping gay men dressing like that?"

If the first thing that comes to mind is Twitter shitstorm, then you know your meme is incendiary.

Fear of people's response, real or imagined.
It's definitely worse in some areas than others.
I've worn a skirt and my collar out in public before, never got any negative comments only positive.
A lot of us don't actually have any idea what's unacceptable or why, we just go with what is familiar.

But there definitely is a lot of idiotic conservatism surrounding it all too.

if we're taking this from a biological standpoint, body type plays a large role in how close a biological male can get to that physique. You can still diet and work out and get pretty close to that goal if you do it right. Works more for some people than others basically.
