With the new contributor tag, DemonTheDarkHound pointed out how much of a mess it would be to deal with posts relating to CryptiaCurves' models.

Unlike with the WarfareMachine BUR I had made, it certainly won't be as simple as mass updating to a contributor tag and aliasing away to the character tag, for a few reasons:

• There's plenty of art of the characters, both in 3D and 2D
• These characters appear to be distinct enough to warrant their own character tags, in terms of their names, designs, and most importantly, popularity, having their own fan art and games.
• The characters got a redesign and updated names back in 2023 (see post #4580469). Should those designs use separate character/copyright tags, or should the existing tags to the new names? (Golden Fredina (Cally3D) -> Type 0 (CryptiaCurves), Fredina's Nightclub -> Fazclaire's Nightclub)
• Right now, there's separate tags but they're being used interchangeably rather than for old vs. new designs

Wanted to crowdsource some opinions on how to handle this before diving into making a BUR.

The bulk update request #9973 is pending approval.

Reason: Alright, as a person who has uploaded around a third of the current images using the Cally3d design, I would prefer to treat them as OCs. I like how they look, and only being able to filter for 3d images using the model would kind of suck. I don't see any problem with using the same tags, as the newer version have the same overall designs, just a bit more bestial.

If we're to treat them as separate characters, then the game/series character's tag would need to be removed (e.g. frenni_fazclaire should not also be tagged freddy_(fnaf), as it seems she often is, same for chiku/chica, etc). IMO, if they're close enough to be tagged as the character they're based on, they're not different enough to be separate characters, while if they are different enough to be tagged as separate characters, they're not close enough to be tagged as the character they're based on. There's quite a lot of posts to go through and remove the original's tag if they're going to be separated (and undoubtedly some people will still tag the original despite being separate).

I heavily disagree. First of all, these models aren't supposed to represent different characters. They are still Freddy, Bonny, Foxy, etc., just as females (and they work in a strip club instead of a pizzeria).

That would worsen the problem we already have. One of the issues created by the character_(modeler) tags is the tag bloat. Adding ANOTHER character tag on top of that would be an even bigger mess.
CryptiaCurves didn't start using these names with the redesign, Type 0 was the only new one that got added. All of the other names were already present before that and not even exclusively by Cryptia. Frenni/Fredina and Fexa for example were LONG established to refer to female versions of Freddy and Foxy. People (including CryptiaCurves) use these names for all versions before and after the redesign, so I don't see how we could make that work.

Also, looking into Fazclaire's Nightclub nobody is using it like described in the wiki and the tag already existed before the redesigns were presented. It rather looks like Fazclaire's Nightclub was accidentally created as a double of Fredina's Nightclub and someone else later added their own definition without talking with other users about it.

Watsit already summed up the mess that treating the models as seperate characters would create. If we were to do that and treat them as seperate characters (what not even the creator of these models does), we would need to remove most to all of FNAF-related tags on posts with them, straight up crippling their searchability and I don't see any logical way we can explain that to a standard e6 user.

I pitched a similar BUR to Mediocracy's (topic #44077) to no avail.

I think we should just do the BUR and then figure out if these tags should exist at all later. Because the current split between the old tags and the new tags must be a nightmare for anyone who doesn't know about it and just wants to see these designs.
