The Pioneer plaques are engraved metal plates attached to the Pioneer 10 and 11 space probes, intended as pictorial messages in the remote chance that the probes are picked up by intelligent extraterrestrials. The symbols and images on the plaque are supposed to provide information about the probes' origin to a receiver without any previous knowledge of humanity or its languages and symbols. The engraved symbols in the image include nude male and female human figures, the position of the sun relative to nearby pulsars, a schematic of the Solar System, and a diagram representing the spin-flip transition in hydrogen (used as a a reference value for the measurements in other parts of the image).
Not to be confused with the the Voyager Golden Record attached to the Voyager 1 and 2 probes, which also has the pulsar map and hydrogen spin transition in its imagery.
