The Road Runner is a fictional bird character who originally appears in the Looney Tunes theatrical cartoons by Warner Bros. He is a main character who is usually paired with and targeted by Wile E. Coyote, whom he tries to capture in spite of his constant failings.
Both the Road Runner and Wile E. were first created by animation director Chuck Jones and writer Michael Maltese, and debuted in the 1949 Looney Tunes short Fast and Furry-ous.
The Road Runner generally does not speak except for the words, "Beep, beep!"
