Budding is when a small portion of a character's body breaks off from the main body, which then grows and develops into a new character. The parent character is still relatively alive and intact, but now with a reduced biomass.

Not to be confused with

• Mitosis - The character splits into pieces which then forms into separate individuals. The character's body is destroyed in the process and all of their biomass is used to create the offspring.
