flying car
A flying car is an aircraft that is as compact as a regular car. Unlike most aircrafts, flying cars don't have expansive wings or rotors, enabling them to be used on roads and parking spaces designed for cars. Some flying cars are capable of transitioning to hover mode or deploying traditional wheels, enabling them to travel close to land without needing to lift off. Flying cars are a mainstay in futuristic/science fiction settings, often seen hovering above streets, or flying around futuristic cityscapes.
In many cases, the flying cars of science fiction are visually identical to modern day automobiles (or rather, futuristic cars, modelled after current trends), or sometimes even patterned after "classic" or vintage cars from the 1950s to 1990s, albeit with wheels replaced by some mechanism that allows the vehicle to hover and fly.

- hovercar - A car sized hovercraft. It is not capable of true flight like a flying car would.
