hiccuping
Hiccuping are involuntary contractions of the diaphragm that may repeat several times per minute, which causes a closure of the vocal cords with each contraction, resulting in repeat "hic" or "hiccup" sounds. Hiccuping is most often caused by rapid eating or swallowing excess amounts of air, it is often associated with a character being drunk, or having eaten a large amount of food.
