Ugly Sonic is a nickname given to the initial character design of Sonic the Hedgehog, as seen in the first 2019 trailer from Paramount's movie adaptation.

During the production of the Sonic movie, an attempt was made by its crew to create a realistic look for its titular star much akin to Paramount's own Ninja Turtles movies. What made it set apart from Sonic's design in the games is that he has detailed fur, a more human-like anatomy, two separate eyes, gloveless hands, and a pair of red Puma sneakers.

Reception-wise the original movie design was panned and mocked online, both from fans of the Sonic series and everyone abroad for its unfaithfulness and uncanny valley. The backlash resulted in Paramount to delay the film for a 2020 release and hire artist Tyson Hesse to redesign Sonic closer to his traditional appearance, of which it was better received. In 2022, a slight variant of the movie's original design appeared unexpectedly as a character in the Disney film, Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers.
