Tesla, Inc. is an American multinational automotive and clean energy company. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, it designs, manufactures, and sells battery electric vehicles (BEVs), stationary battery energy storage devices from home to grid-scale, solar panels, and related products and services. Founded by Martin Eberhard & Marc Tarpenning in 2003. After a 2009 lawsuit settlement Elon Musk was allowed to call himself a co-founder due to his 2004 investment in the young company.
The company has a reputation for the poor quality and high price of it's vehicles, as well as it's many vaporware projects, and high profile failures in the robotics sector. Support for the brand, and the companies value, plummeted in 2024 due to Musk's open embrace of fascism and his support and collaboration with US President Donald Trump
