Any type of clothing made out of latex. It is commonly associated with fetish wear worn during BDSM related activities. Latex clothing is worn by participants of both submissive and dominant roles, but is more commonly associated with dominating roles such as a dominatrix.
Not to be confused with:
- Non-Fetish Latex Clothing - see this forum topic. The majority of images showing latex_clothing show stylized outfits meant to be especially revealing, erotic or sexualized. This category of latex clothing is called 'Fetishwear'. Sometimes latex clothing is non-fetishwear and serves some obvious practical utility, these clothing items are 'utilitywear'. If an image contains non-fetishwear latex, consider applying one of the following tags instead. As a general rule of thumb, use the latex tag when their isn't a clear way to tell them apart. See their wiki pages for examples.
- medical_gloves: Instead of latex_gloves use this tag when latex gloves resemble sterile medical gloves and are being used in an image with a medical or scientific theme.
- work_gloves: Instead of latex_gloves use this tag when latex gloves resemble protective gloves and are being used in an image with a work related theme.
- rubber_boots: This is a generic stand-in tag used instead of latex_boots whenever the boots are not obviously sexualized.
- bondage_gear: Bondage gear is not considered clothing. Use the applicable fabric tag instead, such as latex.
- leather: It can look similar, but can be distinguished by the thickness of the material and/or evidence of stitching, which leather clothing sometimes includes.
- spandex - Although it may be hard to distinguish between the two. Spandex is more flexible, and designed for athletic events.
