Converse (originally named as Converse Rubber Shoe Company) is an American shoe brand, known for their popular Chuck Taylor All-Star model of sneaker, among others.
Founded in 1908 by Marquis Mills Converse, Converse operated independently until 1972 when it was acquired by Eltra Corporation (which was then merged and renamed as Allied Corp in 1979), and then was acquired by Interco in 1986 before being spun-off in 1994. In 2003, Nike, Inc. acquired Converse and it is currently a subsidiary brand for them.
