A relatively simple form of birth control in the form of a latex sheath worn over the penis. In addition to preventing pregnancy (by containing the semen), it also helps prevent the exchange of sexually-transmitted diseases (or STDs) during penetration. Condoms can technically also be worn during fellatio for the same purpose, but are almost never used in such a manner in practice.
Sexual acts performed without a condom are referred to as bareback sex. The use of a condom during sex is referred to as safe sex.
