faceplate
A thick sheet or layer of hard and solid material (usually metal) that is on a character's face.
Coverage varies from small portions of the face to large sections. If it's covering a majority of the face then it's also a mask.

- A piece of armor for the face.
- A decorative accessory.
- A medical prosthesis or patch to protect/support a damaged section of the face.
- An exterior plating for cybernetics (specifically a cybernetic face).
- A natural bodily growth such as an exoskeleton or a particularly thick scale.
