parasol
A parasol is similar in shape and general design to an umbrella, although the main difference between to the two is that a parasol is designed to protect from the sun, rather than the rain like an umbrella.
Parasols are usually found in places like beaches or parks, and are usually embedded into the ground. They may though, at times, be carried by people, especially in art depicting older timeframes.
