Scar is the younger brother of Mufasa and the uncle to Simba. He is the main antagonist of the Disney film The Lion King.

He loathes and envies his older brother for being King and despises his nephew for being next in line to the throne of the Pridelands. He plotted to have Simba killed by tricking him into venturing off to the Elephant Graveyard, where his minions Shenzi, Banzai and Ed were ordered to kill him. Though the plan fails due to the timely arrival of Mufasa.

Scar is next seen at the lair of the Hyena's where he has many of them pledge allegiance to him by promising them all food and uninterrupted hunts should they help him become King. The next day, Scar again tricks Simba into believing that his father has a surprise for him, and orders him to wait at the gorge whilst he fetches Mufasa.

Scar then signals Shenzi, Banzai and Ed to stir a huge herd of wildebeests into a stampede, and the herd stampedes through the gorge. Mufasa arrives and saves Simba, but when he tries to climb up to safety, Scar throws him back into the stampede, where he is trampled to death. Scar encounters Simba mourning his father's death, and makes him believe that Mufasa's death was his fault, and advises him to flee the Pridelands. However, Scar then orders the hyena trio to kill Simba to ensure that he will not return, but Simba escapes and is presumed dead.

Many years pass, and the Pridelands has been turned to a desolate wasteland due to Scar's poor management and neglect of the hyena's over-hunting. When Simba returns to take his rightful place as King, Scar takes advantage of Simba's guilt, and almost kills him. But when Scar whispers to Simba that he was Mufasa's true killer, Simba overpowers him forces him to confess to the lionesses the truth.

A huge battle takes place between Scar's hyena's and Simba's allies. Scar battles Simba which results in Simba throwing him off Pride Rock. Scar survives the fall, but is attacked and eaten alive by the hyenas, who overheard Scar's attempts to save himself by claiming that everything was their fault.

• He was voiced by British actor Jeremy Irons. (His singing voice by the end of his villain song "Be Prepared" was provided by Jim Cummings who would later voice Scar in the sequel.)
