Topic: An imminent_battle tag

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

I am aware that there is a battle tag. But there is no imminent_battle tag.

"Why would we need this tag?", you might be asking. I can ask you the same question about a different tag; the imminent_rape tag.

This tag could be used to find images such as post #427683. Or at least a tag to signify what this type of standoff is.

if I had to classify that I would call it a standoff.

I more used the imminent_battle so I could make the analogy to imminent_rape

That's like comparing a peach to an aircraft carrier. They're two completely different things. I'm with Sollux.

Agreed

A standoff is a standoff regardless of the size of the armies on any/all sides.

what, who brought up the size of the encounter?

The OP, with "imminent_battle" and the given image as example.

Imminent rape is only a tag because it was declared to have joke/meme status.
Imminent by definition violates TWYS and should not be tagged.

a given situation could easily diffuse and no battle occur. This calling it imminent battle would be a n incorrect tagline for such an event. Even then you cannot tell if they truly are going to be battling, or if they're just posturing for dominance.

You did not understand my reasoning here. So I shall try my best to explain myself.

I chose the word imminent because the tag imminent_rape also has imminent in it. This mattered because it was more of the idea of this type of tag. If there was a before rape tag, why not a before fight tag? I had hoped to give you that thought.

I was not actually putting forth that tag name, more so the idea of that tag.

Please read my earlier post, I explain that.

Enough of this argument.

Why not refocus on the reason this thread is here?

In favor of the standoff tag to replace my "temp tag".

You missed the point again. I wasn't suggesting we have EXACTLY that as a tag. I just put forth the idea. I was open to literally any modification.

No, I didn't. "imminent" and "battle". "Or at least a tag to signify what this type of standoff is." the image so linked in the first post.

You were asking for a tag that indicated a battle was going to start in some form. Imminent_rape is kept because of its joke tag status, otherwise *it would be removed because it violates TWYS*. You CANNOT know if there will be rape coming, even if there is a sinister scene unfolding. It could be some form of sex play that those involved enjoy, or it could be a simple threat before the aggressor does something else, to tease the victim.

The same applies for any sort of imminent battle tag, be it a standoff or otherwise. For all we know the situation in the image or other similar images is merely a photo shoot, and there is not going to be any fight occuring. Implied situations are not tagged, period. We've tried explaining this to you already, but apparently you have trouble understanding. Hopefully this will spell it out much more clearly for you.

Dude, you dont have to keep making new posts.
There's an edit button if you want to add something to a previous post.

Edit: Perhaps an "opposing_forces" tag?

[nerd]Of course then we'd need an opposing_forces_(military) and an opposing_forces_(physics) tag to ensure accuracy...[/nerd]

At this point, I've had it explained a lot, so you can just stop right there. And read my last post. Because I'm done with the imminent crap. Ok?

edit in responses to people into a single post, instead of making multiple posts.

I did. It is STILL invalid.

2 things.
1. This time, please do explain. Would it be because of the definition of standoff? The equal strength bit, which you cannot see.
2. Why not just simplify the entire deal and use halite's Opposing_forces tags. That is something that is easily seen.

TWYS aside, I am not sure this tag would be very useful or identifiable. Opposing_forces has my vote because it is true they could not battle at all, and it makes little difference if they do. imminent_rape however is useful because people often want some warning as they browse content that something they may very well blacklist is about to occur, and it although it technically doesn't abide by TWYS, we still use it

That being said, let's try to keep to the point here and not fight.
