Topic: Alias old non-printable names?

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

I'm trying to alias 道るに -> "runi_na" (current active twitter) as it was created before the latin character requirement, but I can't create it due to the old name using illegal characters.
Obviously new tags shouldn't be created using non-latin characters, but shouldn't we be allowed to alias away from them?

Good news, the update to allow users to do exactly that was pushed to e926 less than a day ago!

I just did it in topic #59796

I still get this error whether I request a single alias or BUR.

Antecedent name '道るに' cannot contain non-printable characters

Did the update still allow only certain characters for the antecedent tag, or is it still being tested?

I don't know how many non-english tags remain, but it'd be nice to do this without needing to DM an admin.

I've tested and it works for 道るに

This should have been fixed in PR 868 (release 25.10.02). Try making the request again on e926, where the change is already out.
