Reason: According to the wiki, ponification is: “The turning of fictional characters, real life persons, or other animals into ponies of the My Little Pony universe.”

Also note that dragonification and furrification already imply alternate_species, and dragonification implies dragon; ponification currently lacks both equivalent implications.

Edit: so it appears the first one has been pending for… four years, though the other two implications are also relevant.

Alternate species and the copyright are OK, but the suggestion ponification -> pony is sometimes incorrect. MLP ponies aren't always considered a pony, since pegasus, unicorn and winged_unicorn aren't tagged horse or pony on this site. Horses don't have wings, horns, or both...

What exactly is a pony? For tagging purposes, at least.

I thought about that, but I wasn’t sure if those should count for ponification and if there should be a “unicornification” tag or not. I assume the dragonification tag exists for that reason. Looking at the results, though, it seems that the tag is used for those non-pony things regardless. Do the MLP people usually refer to unicorns as ponies as well?

I’ll change it to equine for now.

MLP refers to them all as ponies, some people know the difference and others don't. Visibly, horses and ponies never have wings and/or horns while pegasi, unicorns, and winged unicorns always have wings, horns, or both... Earth ponies can get tagged pony, though, since they typically look like a pony.

But yea, it's really screwy to think about. I wouldn't be opposed to making a more generic MLP-ification tag and let ponification imply pony, but not MLP. We could create some more species-infication tags with this method. To my knowledge, the reason ponification is being used for MLP ponies is because pony versions of everything (seriously, everything) started sprouting up. These MLP ponified creatures needed a tag for searching and blacklisting purposes, ergo ponification...

The problem is that I really doubt there’s going to be any examples of a character transformed into a pony that’s not an MLP pony. Or if there were, it would not be common enough to warrant having a tag for it. And as for other species, I think some very popular species like dragon can get their own tag (dragonification has 231 results) but I don’t think a given species should get its own tag for this sort of thing unless there are more than a few examples of it. And I’m not even really sure about dragonification tbh (I think it only exists because MLP people did the same thing with dragons, since MLP includes dragons, and people started using them for any kind of dragon version of anything).

Now, maybe… ponification should include any kind of MLP-ified thing, even if it’s an MLP dragon, and forget about specific species transformation tags.

Yeah, you should remove that one from the list so it can be improved, topic #19079 needs to be approved separately, and it would be silly to deny a years old request just to approve the BUR. It's better to send your votes and conversation to that thread--there's plenty of argument against the implication there to have left it in limbo for all this time, present your case in support of it to draw it back out.
