Trying to unhide a forum post bumps me to my account settings page, with a red-bar message header Error: You are already logged in.

Deh-tiger said:
That error actually means "you don't have permission to do this". I think unhiding posts can only be done by mods/admins.

Yup, Deh-tiger is right on this one. Not exactly intuitive but basically any time you see that message it means that you don't have permission for something. I've unhid the post for you.

Not being able to use unhide is (partially) to help prevent users from unhiding things that were hidden by mods. Ultimately I'd like to get a separate flag for mod-hidden posts to give us a bit more flexibility, but it's kind of a low priority right now so I don't know when I'll get to it. Either way, the next update includes various checks to hide a number of buttons if you can't use them (including the "unhide" button), so it should at least be less confusing.

The reverse image search links at the bottom of the image pages are broken and just redirect to the thumbnail.

I can't reproduce this.

 • What browser/OS are you using?
 • Can you right click -> copy the links they point to and post them here?

Looks like it was a greasemonkey script intended for another site leaking though, my bad.

fav:foo -fav:bar does not work

eg:

 • a (fav:GameManiac)
 • b (fav:GameManiac -fav:savageorange)

The latter link has *more* pages of results than the former.

Combining metatags doesn't work yet, even if one is negated. Currently it just uses the last occurrence of one, so in this case that search should be returning results for -fav:savageorange.

Oh, I wasn't aware that this applied to all metatags, thanks for the heads up.

Guess I'll have to use the JSON api, and generate my own HTML, if I really want to do that.

Yep, I was trying to refine the search that you posted in the feral appreciation thread, by removing the many posts that I had already favorited.

I should elaborate for clarity... Combining duplicate metatags (like fav: and fav:) doesn't work, but combining different ones (like fav: and rating:) works fine.

Just a heads up according to Chrome, there is a "ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH" error. Every single topic I found on this error points to Chrome v44 completely removing something called "SSLv3" support. If that's what e621is running then it's on your end. If it's on my end (Windows XP r3) then I'm at a total loss as to why because I literally tried everything to fix it including clearing and resetting every bit of data in Chrome. ...FireFox meanwhile still works just fine

Issue seems resolved, sorry I didn't update this sooner

Bug: User Tag Subscription tags do not reflect username changes.
Expected behavior: Tag "sub:Korbaut" should return results for user tag subscriptions following name change.
Actual behavior: "sub:Korbaut" returns no results. "sub:AloysisKorbaut" (the original name) still returns results instead.
Steps to duplicate: https://e621.net/post/index/1/sub:AloysisKorbaut https://e621.net/post/index/1/sub:KorbautForgive me if this was already mentioned: I tried seeing if this was a known issue and I didn't find anything. This name change is not recent, and I've tried deleting and re-creating tags, but that still does not work. Clicking the given Tag Sub link in the settings page gives me "sub:Korbaut" so I figure this is not intended.

I can't upload this FA post from its direct link:
user - post - direct link

e621 gives me this error message:
Error: Source couldn't be opened: HTTP error code: 404 Not Found

I can both download the full image from the direct link and display it in Firefox with no problems.

The URL in the Source field of the Upload page looks like this:
http://d.facdn.net/art/soulofmusashi/1448063643/1448063643.soulofmusashi_50_shades_of_brown_26_raia_%5Bclean%5D.jpg

I don't know about the child post part but the flag reason issue already has a fix sent. I'll see if I can get it pushed ahead of schedule.

I'll have to look at this one in more detail. I suspect it's partially on their end but I don't have enough info yet to tell.

Interestingly, if you give it a bad URL (non-existent file name) it gives a 403 forbidden error instead...

Already have a fix ready, it just still needs some testing. I'll try to get it pushed out ASAP.

You can technically change your username as a workaround, but you wouldn't be able to change it back (and based on the username you have, I don't expect you were planning on changing it ;))

Weird things happen when you use @

Example:

If there's no empty line between the two lines of text, the <3 is displayed as <;3
If you leave out the <3, the second line of text is also bold

Do you happen to have any unicode (ie. multi-byte) characters in your message? That's a frequent source of this type of bug (programmer incorrectly assumes that N characters == N bytes)

Nope. I was actually my latest blip. I guess the server counts escaped characters instead of the actual characters, thus counting each space as three characters, to mention an example

I only counted 232 with that.

I guess both. Even though, with Windows' new line characters (CR+LF / \r\n), the char count goes up to 236.

Eh...looks like your implementation is much more accurate (relying on onkeyup probably wasn't the best choice :/ ).

I'll have to tweak or rewrite it to be useful for blips.

Lance_Armstrong said:

2+ backslashes have some weird behavior (particularly how they disappear between edits). It's on my list of things to fix but I'm not entirely sure why it's doing it (usually it leaves the original text untouched...).

Recent fixes has made some headers in my comments to not work.

The mistake that I've made is capitalizing the "h" and I fear that it would also affect some other headers that may be already present in post descriptions, forum posts & comments.

Any way to fix this?

The "search for myself in comments" function doesn't work because it puts the user's name in the search box but not the command that makes it work (I believe it is user:username or something)

Bug: searching for yourself in comments doesn't work

Behavior: it only puts your username in the search box

Expected behavior: it should automatically place your username along with the code to make it work.

That's two different searches, both are valid. 'Search for myself in comments' does what it says -- ie. it will find comments where you are mentioned by name or quoted. Searching for all comments made by you (ie. 'user:you') is done by clicking on the number next to the text "Comments" in your profile.

Perhaps this could be a little more clear, but IMO it is currently set up in a logical way.

Bug: Blacklist order isn't preserved when saving profile changes

Behavior: Blacklist reverses itself and rearranges some lines when saving.

Expected behavior: Blacklist stays the order the user enters it.

There's long been a bug where the blacklist reverses itself when saving (was reported more than a year ago in this thread).

But now it's worse. It still reverses, but lines also move around, making it harder to keep the blacklist neat and organized.

At least it's still a minor bug since line order doesn't affect how the blacklist works.

I haven't been able to reproduce this.

 • What browser/OS are you using?
 • Are you running under a proxy of some sort? (used for privacy and to circumvent website blocking)
 • If you can, try under a different browser and tell me what you see.

Go into Chrome's settings -> Advanced -> turn off "Data saver".

It shouldn't be interfering with anything based on how google implemented it, but it's worth a try.

This is likely related to an old Safari bug, but depending on the cause it may or may not be fixable (on our end).

In order to narrow down the cause, I'd like to know what version of iOS you are running. (You can find it in Settings -> general -> about under "version" [unless they've changed it since they released the version you are using]).

If you are actually running that, your device should be capable of running at least 5.1.1. I don't know if it would fix this particular bug, but it may be worth looking into.

Thanks for the info though, I'll see what I can find out.

Bug: this url

404. Caused by entering source:.jpeg in the search field.

If I understand this correctly (ie. source:foo causes a SQL 'LIKE "%foo%"' query), then .jpeg / .jpg/.jpe/.png etc, are the correct search terms for the filetypes, as without the dot 'png' would also match a url containing a plain string like 'also-with-a-hiq-png-version'

EDIT: also, other bug:

Bug: post eaten by url.
Steps to reproduce: Make a forum post containing

Bug: https://e621.net/post/index/1/source:.jpeg
this is text
that is not displayed
because e621 gets confused.
To be precise, 'Bug: https:' is displayed (without the actual rest of the URL, or the text following the URL).

Workaround: as above (giving the link a title)

The latter is actually a temporary bug that goes away when you refresh the page. It actually doesn't affect posts in any way.

The former is related to the . character acting up in metatags. I'll add making some sort of escape for that to my todo list.

.. No, it doesn't. All I get from refreshing is the same 404 page; whether from F5ing, Ctrl+F5ing, clicking the Refresh icon, shift+clicking it, or ctrl+clicking it, or going to the URL bar and hitting Enter.

OTOH, if I change the string slightly after the initial load, eg. jpeg->jpegs, then the page will load. Of course, then the search is different from what I intended.

Not sure when it happened but posts show the original images (not resized or sampled) unless you log in and unclick it in settings. There is no option otherwise to "show original" or "resize image to fit..." etc.

Is this intentional?

We were most likely going to change it over to scaling at some point, but since that feature is relatively new we wanted to make sure we fixed any glaring bugs first. Since we are now past that stage I see no problem with switching it over.
