actually... this feels like a weird random thought but, how did people even end up meeting anyone that lived far enough away that physically mailing a letter was the most effective method of contact?

From a tropical island pov, it's either you have met them first in person before they went somewhere far away or you get introduced to them by a colleague. Mail penpals was a/the common way to keep in touch back then esp. before telephony (most esp. the overseas one) became common and dirt cheap in the tropics.

Folks send in the most heartfelt, kind, and endearing letters sometimes with photos, postcards, or even the fancy ones with music boxes included in it!

I feel like, even when I was in school learning how to format a letter, I wondered "when am I really ever going to use this?". because like, I feel the only time I'd consider writing an actual letter is for business/official stuff (which you're going to format slightly different from a personal letter anyway), or uhh... contacting someone in prison, I guess? in almost every other situation in-person or over the phone would be considerably easier.

I got mixed ideas on what song I should make.

-Rap
-Chillwave
-Yet another synthwave
-or Electro Pop

Every time I make something, I nitpick my progress and then immediately expunge it.
It’s also been a hot minute since the last song I made was in early-mid July…

you could have one lead to the user favs page (/favorites?user_id=*) and one should lead to fav search. it is kind of annoying to have to click on a favorited post then click on the nav button on the post page to get to the fav:<user> search.

Yeah, that's what I was trying to get at. This would be really helpful

This is what this site’s homepage looked like when I first joined… 😮

The fact we’re over 4.5 million posts is insane how far we’ve come!

also, site devs: if it is only a cosmetic tweak, and not some sort of security or broken functionality fix, please don't; we can fiddle on our own time

Actually they meant that the favourites button and the total button both link to the same place, so it's entirely redundant. Same with uploads and total

lol yeah, and maybe it's my resistance to change but I liked how it was previously

I liked having user score up near the top rather than half-way down, at least. and the main reason that it went offscreen was the upload limit calculation being super large.

favorites isn't technically redundant since a user with hidden favs will still have the count visible (although, maybe showing the number of favs of on an account with hidden favs is kinda pointless).

TIL there is a waterfall in the Philippines that resembles the female anatomy! It's the Kaman-itil Falls (lit. "Resembles-Vagina Falls" in english) in Suyo, Ilocos Sur

the user upload/deleted/replaced/rejected info should be removed from the main user info block since it's now contained much more concisely with the recent uploads. favorites isn't technically redundant since a user with hidden favs will still have the count visible (although, maybe showing the number of favs of on an account with hidden favs is kinda pointless).

the rest of the user info box could probably do with some additional housecleaning. like, all edits could probably be combined into a 2x2 box and user level should be removed from the main bit of the infobox and plopped next to the user name like it was pre-NG.

Literally thought my page didn’t load properly due to how “organized” my profile looked here.

The favorites page now messes with my OCD, as previously all my faves were grouped in lines of 9, but now there are lines with 8, 9, or 10 images on them
and no amount of fiddling with page size or zoom has been able to bring back the tidy groupings I had formed up.

Anyone know of a CSS line entry that can make this page size or spacing change go away ?

...

Pobably a change which makes the entire bar of votes / fav count / comment count / rating visible, where previously I remember some of the longer bars being cut off at a certain length ?

Glad I was wrong. Really doesn’t look bad. 😗

profile page got updated, it looks pretty alright. some of the stuff still on the page is redundant now, though, making it all seem a bit messy. and the remaining stuff could maybe be grouped together to make it all a bit more concise.

also, not a hyuge fan of About being way at the bottom of the page.

@Dripen_Arn: Well, thank god. I thought they announced it somewhere and I missed it since I don't follow the news.

I had to reply to see what that is, lmao. Much better than spoilers I guess.

Why does it show up as a mongolian vowel separator on your end though

sometimes I make up nicknames for people I know (in real life and online) but then I only ever use them internally. it just kinda feels like I'm sorta imposing that on someone if I ever said it out loud, I guess; even if it's a variation of their existing name.
