In some areas, sure, with ample hydroelectric or geothermal. What about power grids heavily dependant on coal like the US, China, Mexico, et al.

I'd rather see more modern, safer nuclear power generation than further increases in coal-fired.
Petroleum cannot be the power of choice for vehicular transportation long-term, yet neither is electricity, at least not wide-scale.
