princess

A royal title for women, commonly reserved for the daughter of a king and/or queen, or the wife of a prince.
Princess characters are very popular in storytelling, with princesses often being the protagonist (or major secondary character) of a given piece of media, this is especially common in fairy tale/fantasy settings. Princesses are typically depicted wearing long, flowing, ornate dresses or gowns, and most importantly tiaras or crowns (even when drawn wearing street clothes or nude).
While princesses usually don't have the "supreme authority" of an emperor/empress, king or queen, a princess may be the ruling monarch of a nation — this is more common in fiction than in real life, characters such as Princess Peach or the various princesses of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic act as the ruling sovereigns over their respective countries, with no kings or queens above them (a nation ruled by a prince or princess is actually called a principality, although the Mushroom Kingdom and Equestria are never referred to as such)
