Mario Paint was a 1992 spin-off of the Super Mario Bros. franchise for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and one of the very few titles to use the SNES Mouse. It could be used to create simple animations, short musical compositions, and, most relevantly to us, create bitmapped images.
Images created with Mario Paint have a resolution of 248×168, are aliased (similar to Microsoft Paint), and only have sixteen colors: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A B C D E F, with dithering patterns available to create the illusion of more. Like many other children's art programs at the time, there were also patterns and stamps available.
A patch has been created to move controls to the SNES control pad for those who do not have and cannot emulate the SNES mouse.
The one furry character exclusive to this game is King Watanga, a robot housefly that serves as the boss of the "Fly Swatter" minigame.
