Gale Dekarios, Epithet: The Wizard of Waterdeep, is one of the seven origin characters in Baldur's Gate 3.

He is a male human and magical prodigy, Gale trained underneath the legendary wizard Elminster Aumar in the ways of the weave. Gale caught the eye of Mystra, Goddess of Magic due to his potential, and was scheduled to become her next Chosen of Mystra, Goddess of Magic. It is revealed very early in the game, that Gale suffers from a condition where in he needs to consume the magical properties of magical artifacts in order to sustain himself. If he does not do this every 3 days, he will experience symptoms of extreme starvation and may potentially die.

By default, Gale is an evocation wizard lacking proficiency in all but the simplest of weapons, shields, and no armor.

Gale has a simple, yet refined style to him, with clothes well-made but never ostentatious. His mousy brown hair is straight and shoulder-length, swept back with an elegant flair. His eyes are chestnut brown, his gaze soft but confident, and he keeps his facial hair neatly trimmed. On his left ear, Gale wears a silver earring shaped in the form of a star, holy symbol of Mystra, representing perhaps his former relationship with the goddess or just his affinity with magic. In the middle of his chest, a dark circle with wispy tendrils can be found.

Gale has a pet talking cat named Tara.
