haillu (anatomy)
Haillus are pairs of fleshy fin-like appendages that protrude from the head of the Gungan species.
The length of haillus is one of several differences between the Gungan subspecies, having grown longer in the Otolla that branched off from the Ankura. Unlike another head appendage found throughout the Galaxy, the lekku, haillus are limp membranes without prehensility; the lack of motor control in such prominent features doesn't help the clumsier members of the species. Some Gungans, especially females, tie their haillus back in a manner akin to ponytails that humans and other hair-having species do.
