scp-1730

SCP-1730 is a location from the mythos of the SCP Foundation website. Its debut story, SCP-1730 — What Happened to Site-13? was posted in January 2015 by a writer known as djkaktus. Unlike most SCP entries on the website, SCP-1730 was written in instillations, with five updates to the story provided via addendums until September 2017.

SCP-1730 was formerly Site-13, an SCP Foundation facility from an alternate timeline. In this timeline, Site-13 was constructed outside Nome, Alaska, originally for the purpose of cremating SCP-3000's corpse after it washed ashore in 1964. This lead to further events including the Soviet Union's collapse in 1985, a 1994 terrorist attack that destroyed the timeline's counterpart to the Willis Tower in Chicago, and Bob Dole's victory over Bill Clinton in the 1996 United States presidential election. Under Dole's presidency, this SCP Foundation was forcibly made a constituent of the United Nations Global Occult Coalition, which caused a decline that saw the disbanding of the Overseer Council; the execution of Dr. Jeremiah Cimmerian and the entire Ethics Committee; and Site-13's director Dr. Jack Bright being framed for the murder of Dr. Cynthia Light and replaced by Dr. Elliot Emerson. With Emerson as director, Site-13 was turned into a death camp for SCP objects and GOC Threat Entities, a prison for deities, and development of the "Thresher": an experimental time machine for the purpose of supplanting SCP-1730 in the event of a catastrophic containment breach. Site-13 was turned into SCP-1730 after a disgraced assistant director, Dr. Vera Hadley, sabotaged the facility to cause several such containment breaches, and the Thresher transplanted the facility into the Big Bend Ranch State Park, Texas of a timeline where SCP-3000 never died, the SCP Foundation remains independent, and Site-13 was scrapped in favor of Site-19's construction.

Physically, SCP-1730 is an abandoned building complex that is structurally unsound, such as crumbling floors, fires, and what is intact of the facility's nuclear reactor being on the brink of meltdown. Both the above ground and subterranean levels of SCP-1730 are physically inconsistent, as passages regularly change and disappear, as well there being far more levels than expected from Site-13 blueprints. Portions of the facility are flooded with a black fluid that is a mixture of runoff from the reactor's power core and the liquified remains of the victims of SCP-1730. Walls and floors are occasionally marked with corpses or writing made in blood or the aforementioned black sludge. Of further danger, SCP-1730 is rampant with several anomalous entities, some of which are recognizable counterparts to other SCPs, while others are previously unknown to the exploring SCP Foundation.

  • What was once Elijah, a young boy who had leech-like abilities. He scheduled to be liquidated when Dr. Hadley initiated her mass containment breach, of which he was some focus of. By some means, Elijah became a gargantuan, black leech monster that burrows in the depths of SCP-1730, with the nude body of Hadley fused to the tip of its tongue.
    • An infestation of smaller leeches located throughout SCP-1730, ostensibly progenies of "Elijah". The leeches would kill victims by forcing themselves down the throats of victim and disembowel them from the inside, and were capability of reanimating and piloting their freshly-killed victims. Probing of one's brain indicates they are connected via a hive mind with "Elijah".
  • The "Malidramagiuan", a multiple-limbed humanoid that floats around and performs magical gestures with its dozens of hands. For a head it has a stone alter where Dr. Emerson is chained to and tortured on.
  • An unidentified entity with the appearance of a translucent cosmic humanoid. It was a reality bender that would float down SCP-1730's hallways, warping spacetime around it as it dragged along anyone it caught until their bodies got trapped in walls. It was encountered by MTF Apollo-3 "Game Wardens" and fended off with a reality anchor.
  • An unidentified entity with the appearance of a cloaked with a conical hat and a single white eye. It would reach a tentacle into the sludge on the floor and write deadly cognitohazardous symbols on the walls of SCP-1730. It was terminated by MTF Tau-5 "Samsara" and its corpse was immediately eaten by "Elijah".
  • The infected of an unidentified cognitohazard, signified by the projection of fire from their ears. When exposed to loud noises, an infected would violently yet silently explode into a bright light and melt anything in reach. Several technical staff manning a drone exploration of SCP-1730 contracted from a cognitohazard written by the above mentioned wall-writing entity.
  • The counterpart of SCP-001-CLF. Engaged in divine combat with SCP-2845 and "Elijah", providing MTF Tau-5 "Samsara" and their rescues the opportunity to escape.
  • Counterparts of SCP-553. The colony resided in ventilation shafts in and around SCP-1730's cryogenics wing.
  • The corpse of a woman with documentation identifying it as a body for Dr. Jack Bright. The counterpart SCP-963 was visibly stolen, with only its broken chain necklace remaining on the corpse's person.
  • The counterpart of SCP-993 displaying Bobble the Clown, or as it claims, a "thing that used to be Bobble". Gave an account of the atrocities committed at Site-13 and states that he wants "Daddy Emerson" to be "raped to death".
  • A crudely-built mecha piloted by a small maniacal robot; ostensibly the counterpart of SCP-1370.
  • The corpse of SCP-1500's counterpart. Stuck in the wall of a hallway frequented by the aforementioned cosmic reality bender.
  • The counterpart of SCP-2845. Engaged in divine combat with SCP-001-CLF and "Elijah", providing MTF Tau-5 "Samsara" and their rescues the opportunity to escape.

Explorations of SCP-1730 conducted by the SCP Foundation's mobile task forces lead to the death of several personnel, but a rescue mission conducted by MTF Tau-5 "Samsara" to extract surviving MTF units and Site-13 staff was largely successful. Due to the sacrifice of the team captain for MTF Zeta-9 "Mole Rats", the Thresher was reactivated and removed the facility to another timeline; following the disappearance SCP-1730 was reclassified as Neutralized by the second timeline's Foundation, but it is unknown where it is or what has happened to it in this third timeline.
