Character: i.v. (ivycomb)
I.V is the persona of Ivycomb and one of the main characters of the Cosmic Critters Universe.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION:
I.V. (can be spelled/pronounced as Ivy) is analogous to a bee/dragon hybrid from a binary star system located within the andromeda galaxy. Their species is exceptionally intelligent despite being in a pre-industrial era, thriving due to verbal communication and strong agriculture.
I.V. is a male specimen of the species, but as gender isn't a concept within the social structure of their society, they choose to identify as non-binary when asked.
I.V. has a variety of cybernetic implants, the most obvious of which being armored legs. These were the result of I.V. being rescued by an interstellar traveler when found seriously injured and abandoned by their peers.
Their name is an initialism that was given by the aforementioned traveler, I.V.'s species doesn't typically name their kin as most activities have work shared among all peers, and their native language accounts for proximity as opposed to individuality.
I.V. lacks any visible ears, the cones on the top of their head are fuzz-covered horns.
I.V. has large hands like all other members of their species, these developed for scooping up pollen from the over-sized flora on their planet.
Due to their biology, I.V. is unable to eat meat or any tough plants, nor most fruits. I.V. lacks teeth or a proper stomach for digestion. Naturally they are used to a very glucose heavy diet (heavy in sugar) as the food they consume the most is honey.
Their wings may be small but I.V. is capable of flight due to a very light subsurface skeleton.
I.V. is 6'01 but only weighs 34 pounds naturally. Due to the materials used in their legs however, they currently weigh closer to 46 pounds.
I.V.'s left eye (visually our right as an observer) is slightly lighter, and with a more red tone to the sclera. This is because it's an implant that doubles as a display, allowing I.V. to have an extra dimension of emotional expression. It can't display complex images and doesn't always work, but it's good enough to bring a bit more charm to the table when they're around.
I.V. is a very well-mannered appearing character, although they can occasionally come off as somewhat rude due to not always understanding conventional social rules and are often heavily sarcastic despite being very cheerful and optimistic most of the time. They try their best to be helpful whenever they can, as long as they're allowed to crack a joke or poke fun once in a while.
I.V. adores music, as culturally it wasn't something common to see on their home world, and are also invested in visual arts as they possess four color cones which allows them to see light in the traditionally visible spectrum as well as ultraviolet light.
As a result of this anatomy, I.V. has trouble seeing anything in low-light scenarios. On Earth I.V. would be practically blind at night, even with halogen street lights.
I.V. is usually curious but often totally unaware of how most technology or instruments function.
I.V. likes to collect little knick-knacks that they find on space adventures to keep as souvenirs. Along with honey snacks and drinks, I.V. has a small honeycomb shaped bag they made themself out of some plant polymers and materials on the ship they are a resident of.
I.V. has a visor that activates when in proximity to their cybernetic eye. This allows them to see insight into their unfamiliar surroundings, or give information on flight statistics live.
I.V. has armour fit to their arms, however they are only able to use it on one arm at a time. It possesses various mounting points for accessories such as cutting tools, weaponry, or even a paint gun.
I.V. is covered in a light layer of soft fuzz but they still tend to wear a sweater out of personal preference. It is a sweater woven from strings matching their own colors with four dials in irregular formation located in the centre. This is based off of a musical instrument they found.
