Cool Cat is a character created by American author Derek Savage and the eponymous lead character of the Cool Cat franchise. He is an anthropomorphic domestic cat with orange fur and cartoony black eyes. He almost always wears a t-shirt with his own name in big, bold letters on it and a pair of shorts. Even though he is quite tall, with the live action role being performed by an adult in a suit, he is meant to be a child.

First appearing in a series of children's books written by Derek Savage, Cool Cat is the star of several feature length films produced, written, and directed also by Savage. Despite the amateurishness and low quality of these productions, the films and Cool Cat himself have gained a cult following. This is thanks in large part to videos produced by YouTube channels such as YourMovieSucks and I Hate Everything as well as Derek Savage's many controversies that came about after those videos were released.

Cool Cat lives in Los Angeles, California with his mother Momma Cat and his father Daddy Derek, played by Derek Savage himself. He and the neighborhood kids that he is friends with deal with common, everyday problems and attempt to provide the audience with helpful life lessons. Despite the show's attempt at framing him up as a positive role model, Cool Cat's position in this role is often put in question as he is prone to doing many reckless and irresponsible things such as encouraging people to read unsolicited text messages on their phones, or running out in the middle of the street without looking both ways. For the most part he is well-meaning and friendly, but he does have a bit of a mean streak especially when it comes to dealing with people he sees as bullies.
