The Backrooms is a fictional location made up of hundreds of millions of miles of randomly oriented empty rooms made up of beige carpeting, old wallpaper, and tiled ceilings with fluorescent lights. It’s said that The Backrooms can be accessed by “noclipping out of reality” (noclipping is a video game term for using cheats to fly through walls or out of bounds). Fans have expanded upon the concept by making similarly repetitive environments with their own designated “levels” and monsters to go with them, among other lore.

The Backrooms have also contributed to meme culture, as things born on the internet basically have no way around becoming a meme in some way.
