Eclipse and Embereon Discrimination
Eclipse and Embereon Discrimination
Long ago, the many races of the world lived together in harmony, interrupted only by demon attacks that- thanks to the worldly powers of mana and combined efforts of the people -were pushed back easily. One day, an Embereon today known as "Eclipse" discovered the secrets to immense power, and brazenly declared himself as ruler of the world. Though he was barely defeated through the combined effort of everyone, the non-Embereon began to worry about the possibility of another following Eclipse's footsteps. As such, they worked together once again to banish the Embereon to a lone corner of one of the continents, where- in a place scarce of mana -it is intended that they starve to death.
The Rise of the Eon Ember
The Rise of the Eon Ember
Back then, the Embereon weren't initially known as the "Embereon", and would have died out as a nameless species. But while a tired group of these canine warriors wandered what little land mass they were provided, they caught glimpse of a mighty furred dragon with mana crystals upon its back. Even as it passed by for a second, their land was granted all that was required to make it a home, filling it with life and the potential to maintain life. With hope renewed, the people named this mighty being "Eon Ember", or "Eternal Flames of Life", then named their own people "Embereon (similar meaning)" in memory of this sighting.
Crawling Back
Crawling Back
Years have passed, and though the Embereon have grown used to a life of peace, they wanted to reach back out to the people they used to love. However, because of their bad name, and the many defences set up to keep the Embereon in their village, only a select few are allowed to leave at a time in order to not imply an insurrection. Scavengers would leave in pairs to collect loot dropped by adventurers so as to not keep litter from damaging the world as well as find uses for it for themselves. Other than they, no others would be allowed to leave the village. That was until the elders pitched an idea to the guards to relay to their superiors: each year, one representative of their people would venture out to do good in hopes of convincing the others to free them. It was unlikely to work, but they had much to contribute to the people that sadly would go unnoticed if left to rot in their village. After 47 consecutive attempts, the Embereon were finally freed, and now walk among the rest of the races either as a people or as adopted pets.
The Embereon
The Embereon
Appearance
Appearance
The most common form of Embereon resemble foxes, but the Embereon can take the forms of various other canines such as labradors, dobermans, and so on. To differentiate from other anthropomorphic canines, all Embereon have extensions on the sides of their heads where human or elf ears would go which they call "Au'dana", which is the parts of their bodies that sense mana (or "NightFire" as they call it). Adults also have tribal markings as explained below.
Traits
Traits
The females are typically physically stronger, taking on manual labour roles as an adult female Embereon can effortlessly lift approximately 2000 lbs, but are fluffy enough to conceal nipples and genitals.
The males are more magically gifted, taking on other roles (such as hunting, landscaping, gardening, etc.) at early ages, and have retractible genitals.
When they come of age (typically young adulthood), the Embereon earn their "stripes" - tribal markings which they call "Ma'kini (as a portmanteau of their words for "Markings", "Clothing", and "Fate")" that dictate their abilities, personalities, or sometimes even destinies.
Language
Language
Their native language itself lacks proper translations, as it's mostly a language of personal emotion rather than material definition. For example, their word for mana is "No'fa (or "NightFire")" because it is both dark and cold, and bright and warm, depending on use. Interestingly, because it's based on emotion rather than human terminology, animals can completely understand what an Embereon is saying.
They also use prefixes that explicitly mention their relations to the intended subject, like "Friend Laby", "Husband Derrick", "Enemy Yordick", "Daughter Bellany", and so on. Embereon born and raised outside of the village, however, can learn those respective languages and drop the prefixes if they wish.
Abilities
Abilities
All Embereon can morph into feral forms, which is usually an automatic process when an Embereon is resting as it consumes less energy to maintain a smaller form rather than a larger one.
Where their clothes go when they change forms is unknown, but it seems that some accessories and clothes that are not made from animal products only shrink, and are otherwise unaffected by their morphing.
Reproduction
Reproduction
Approximately once per 2 months, an Embereon female can go into heat for about 3 days without the need to mate. During this fertile (and lustful) state, the females can become incredibly dangerous when they identify the presence of males, though thankfully there have been no reports of permanent injuries in their pursuits.
After impregnation, it takes around 2 weeks for the female to provide offspring, usually numbering 5-10 kits. Depending on the male(s) that take part in this procreation, the Embereon kits may share noticeable traits such as altered colouration of fur or different affinities for certain elements. Though not as noticeable between same-species engagements, their compatibility with other races may provide more obvious results. Outside of these heat cycles, all attempts at procreation will bear no results unless it is around 24 hours before their heat cycle. The female should be able to identify specific days in which they are expected to go into heat, or have a "last call" in the form of increased body heat.
Diet
Diet
The Embereon are omnivores, able to eat human meals on top of their usual wild cuisine. Depending on how active they are, or how much rest they have, their food requirements may range between a single bowl of kibble twice a day to an entire family dinner platter per meal. Because of how many calories they burn through their active lifestyles, there have been no sightings of obese Embereon.
