Text markings describe text, numbers or symbols that appear on a character's body, but are neither tattoos nor written onto the body, and should not be tagged as body writing or text tattoo.

Text markings most obviously describe text/symbols printed onto the surface of robotic and living machine characters, but can also describe naturally occurring (or magically manifested) text/symbols on the surface of the skin (or on fur, scales, feathers).

Note that a character can have both text markings and temporary body writing on them at the same time.
