Character: shenron
Shenron (神龍シェンロン Shenron, lit. "Divine Dragon"), also known as Shenlong, is a magical Dragon from the Dragon Ball franchise.
Shenron (like other known Eternal Dragons) generally resembles a traditional four-toed Chinese dragon: brown antlers, sharp teeth, green scaly skin, red eyes, a long serpentine body of mostly tail, long flowing whiskers, a long snout, crescent-shaped nostrils, and flowing green hair on his cheeks. When Shenron is summoned, the sky becomes pitch dark, even during daytime. Once he disappears, the sky returns to normal.
As with most wish-granting Eternal Dragons, Shenron is a neutral figure who grants any wish within his power regardless of the intent of the wish itself or the nature of his summoner, including evil beings such as King Piccolo (who ended up killing him afterwards), Garlic Jr., and so on. Shenron is normally very courteous, polite, and does his best to grant a wish in a way that will bring the most joy to the summoner, including advising against what he considers impractical wishes and proposing alternatives unless the summoner absolutely insists. He is known however to be impatient and become annoyed and aggressive when the summoner is indecisive or requests something extremely frivolous. Shenron can also only maintain his physical form for about 15-20 minutes after he is summoned. If nobody asks for anything within the period of time immediately after he is summoned, he will leave. When Shenron leaves, the Dragon Balls used to summon him will be scattered across the planet and subsequently turned to stone.
Originally, Shenron's wish granting had the following rules:
- Shenron must be called by name in order to grant a wish once all 7 or his dragon balls are brought to the same place.
- Once he grants a wish the balls will scatter around the world in different directions, turn to stone, and be unusable for exactly one year.
- Shenron will grant the first wish he hears.
- Shenron can use his power to kill someone, but he can only do so if the target is weaker than the creator of the dragon balls(Kami).
- Shenron can bring somebody back to life from the dead, but only if they died of unnatural causes and within the past 365 earth days.
- Shenron can bring multiple people back to life from the dead, but only if the target have something in common, such as if they died at the same time and place or were killed by the same person.
- If Shenron bring someone back to life, they will be restored to whatever physical state their body is currently in at the time of resurrection. Meaning it won't work if the body is already decomposed.
- Shenron cannot kill a person whose power exceeds that of his creator. (Kami/Piccolo)
- Shenron cannot grant the precise same wish twice.
- Shenron cannot revive a person who has died of natural causes, including disease and old age.
- Shenron cannot create true love or force a person to fall in love.
- Shenron cannot make a person substantially stronger than their current limits (Like make Yamcha as strong as Vegeta).
- Shenron change or remove the aforementioned limitations.
Currently, Shenron's wish granting had the following rules:
- If Dende (the creator of the current dragon balls) dies, then the dragon balls will be permanently petrified, effectively killing Shenron permanently.
- Shenron can now grant 3 wishes like an actual djinn.
- Shenron cannot bring people back to life if he resurrected them once before.
- Shenron can bring people back to life even if they have been dead for more than a year.
- If Shenron bring someone back to life, they will be restored to whatever physical state their body was is currently in at the time of resurrection. Meaning it won't work if the body is already decomposed.
- Shenron can bring multiple people back to life, but if the number of people brought back is exceptionally large, then he will have to use 2 out of the 3 wishes.
- Once he grants all his wishes the balls will scatter around the world in different directions, turn to stone, and be unusable for 4 months.
- 4 months after being used the dragon balls will reactivate, but Shenron will only be able to grant one wish.
- Shenron will be able grant one additional every 4 months to a maximum of 3 after a year.
- Shenron can be dismissed early to save wishes, although the balls will still scatter and petrify.
- Shenron can use his power to kill someone, but he can only do so if the target is weaker than the creator of the dragon balls(Dende).
- If Shenron bring someone back to life, they will be restored to whatever physical state their body is currently in at the time of resurrection. Meaning it won't work if the body is already decomposed. He can however also restore the body to healthy state in addition to resurrecting the dead.
- Shenron apparently, cannot undo the cybernetic enhancements that created Android 17 and Android 18.
- Shenron can grant his wishes remotely and have their effect take place on other planets.
- Shenron can resurrect himself every time his dragon balls are used, even if he is killed, as long as his dragon balls still exist and his effigy/statue is still in tact.
- Shenron cannot bring someone back to life if their soul has already been reincarnated.
- If Shenron is killed before returning to his balls, the Dragon Balls will not scatter.
- The dragon balls can be destroyed individually and directly then Shenron wil die.
