Character: gulliver (animal crossing)
Gulliver (ジョニー, Jonī, Johnny) is a white gull appearing throughout the Animal Crossing series. In Wild World and Let's Go to the City, he is an alien seagull wearing a suit that the player can encounter by firing the slingshot at his saucer.
In Animal Crossing, Gulliver is a white seagull wearing a sailor suit. When he is awakened by the player who has spoken to him several times, he will tell him about his travels and ask for help in finding his next destination.
In New Leaf, Gulliver is randomly found asleep on the beach and the player talks to him several times or shouts his name with the megaphone to make him wake up. The player's mission is to help him recover his memory by finding out what country he was going to before he was stranded, using details he remembers. If the player finds the right answer, Gulliver will send him an object representative of the country in question, related to the country, the next day by letter. If the answer is wrong, he will send him a chocolate coin and thank him anyway.
Trivia:
- He makes several references to other Nintendo licenses, for example, he will talk about Hyrule and Champiville, mentioning that he left his goldfish there.
- He makes a lot of references to other Nintendo titles, for example by telling the player that if his destination is Italy, he can't wait to "meet that famous plumber", saying that he would have preferred to be stranded on the shores of Delphino Island, or talking about a sailor named Bombart who lives in Port-Lacanaïe, which is also a reference to Mario (more specifically Paper Mario: The Millennium Gate)
