Species: mandrill
The mandrill (Mandrillus sphinx) is a species of old world monkey native to west central Africa. It is the largest species of monkey in the world, and is classified as Vulnerable by the IUCN. Despite their resemblance to baboons, Mandrills are more closely related to other monkeys such as mangabeys, and their closest relative is the drill (monkey) with which they share a genus.
Mandrills are particularly colorful for mammals, particularly the males. They have black fur with yellow and white markings, and their exposed skin has portions that are red, blue, purple, and pink. In particular their hairless butts, similar to those of baboons, exhibit all such colors in different parts, which are more prominent in dominant males.
