Tanuki mario, also known as Tanooki mario is a power-up form that debuted in Super Mario Bros 3 that is obtained either by activating a super leaf, or receiving the Tanooki suit in several Mario Bros games. As a tag, it simply is the depiction of Mario in a tanuki costume.

Only certain games involving the super leaf turned Mario into Tanuki Mario. Some games turned Mario into Raccoon Mario instead. The two forms can easily be mixed up.
