game pickup
A game pickup is an item sprite placed inside of a video game stage, or level for the player to collect. This is a broad category that encompasses most items that deliberately appear to be retrievable by the player.
Identification
The types of pickups vary widely from game to game, but it is usually possible to distinguish item pickups from elements that are part of the background scenery. Use these tips to help you know what to look for when tagging.
- Brightly colored containers, weapons, or items that contrast with the background scenery. These items may glow or contain an outline surrounding the item.
- Objects that hover above the ground for no obvious reason
- Objects that are grouped together in unnatural ways, especially in places accessible to a player character.
General guidelines
- Item pickups should be tagged within the context of a game setting. Try to use this tag when there is some resemblance of the gameplay mechanic intact in the scene.
- This tag is restricted to items that haven't yet been collected. Use game item for items that have already been collected.
