Character: huckleberry hound
Huckleberry "Huck" Hound is a fictional cartoon character, a blue anthropomorphic coonhound. He first appeared in the series The Huckleberry Hound Show created by Hanna-Barbera Productions, Inc.
He is best known for speaking with a North Carolina Southern drawl and has a relaxed, sweet, and well-intentioned personality. He is also known for his horribly tone deaf rendition of the country song "Oh My Darling, Clementine", often used as a running gag.
A majority of his short films consist of Huck trying to perform various jobs in different fields, ranging from a policeman to a dogcatcher with a resulting backfire, yet usually coming out on top, either through his slow persistence or sheer luck. Huck did not seem to exist in a specific time period as he has also been a Roman gladiator, a medieval knight, and a contemporary (1950s) rocket scientist. He has, strangely enough, never appeared in futuristic cartoons, as they are only those set in the present or the past.
He was one of the first and most popular creations of Hanna-Barbera, and has been appearing along side many other characters from the studio such as Snagglepuss and Yogi Bear.
