What is the Moderation Queue?
e621's Moderation Queue is a system in place to filter out images that go against the Uploading Guidelines.
Users with the permission to approve posts, collectively referred to as "Approvers", are staff members responsible for approving posts in the queue.
How does the Mod Queue work?
When an image is posted to e621, it is placed in the Queue. Posts that are in the Queue are distinguished by their blue border when viewing the gallery in thumbnails.
The full Queue may be listed by using the search metatag status:pending.
All posted images have thirty days to be approved by a staff member. If the post does not receive approval after this time limit, it will be automatically deleted by the auto moderator. If the post has been accepted by any of the approvers, the image becomes a part of e621's active posts.
The Moderation Process, in Short:
1. A new post is uploaded.
2. The new post is placed in the Mod Queue.
3. Approvers review the post.
4. If there are no approvals within 30 days, the post is deleted.
5. If an approver approves the post, the approved post is now active and remains on e621 indefinitely.
Exceptions and Exemptions:
All users with the unrestricted uploads permission (collectively referred to as "Unrestricted Uploaders") allows them to post directly to e621's active collection, bypassing the Mod Queue. This privilege is given to frequent uploaders with an excellent track record of posting consistently high-quality art, to allow them to contribute to the collection without the constraints of the Mod Queue.
Upload limit
You are only able to have a certain number of un-approved images on e621 at once. Once you reach your limit, then a staff member has to approve some of your posts before you will be allowed to upload any more.
Your limit is calculated using the number of approved posts, deleted posts, and currently un-approved (pending) posts, rounded to the nearest whole number.
10 + (Approved / 10) - (Deleted / 4) - Pending = Remaining uploads
What should I do about my deleted Posts?
Most of the time, it is safe to assume that every post in the Queue has been reviewed at least once.
If an upload isn't approved after thirty days, it is mostly because it doesn't meet our quality standards. It is comparatively rare for a high-quality post to end up getting deleted because the Queue missed it.
If your upload has been deleted, you should not try to post it again. Such actions are considered posting abuse and may result in your account being suspended.
