The original design for Sonic the Hedgehog, before being given his modern design in Sonic Adventure. This Sonic is told apart by his shorter body, black or dark brown eyes, red-soled shoes, and tan eyelids.
He has been involved in several square crossovers with his modern counterpart, as with the games Sonic Generations and Sonic Forces. Whilst he was initially considered a younger version of the character in Generations, he is now retconned as a Sonic from another dimension (as Tails had put it in the quote above).
