Tracksuits are made of lightweight water resistant synthetic materials like nylon or polyester, the jackets frequently have zippered fronts, and pants have elastic waistbands or drawstrings. In some cases, the jacket may be substituted with a matching sleeveless hooded shirt, or tank top, while the pants may be substituted with a matching pair of gym shorts. If the pants or jacket are individually, consider tagging track jacket or track pants instead.

Tracksuits have a stereotypical association with Eastern Europe, specifically the Gopnik subculture, where tracksuits are usually paired with a flat cap; tracksuits also have an association with early (1980s) hip-hop/rap subculture.
