Species: maggot
A maggot is the worm-like larva of a dipteran (more commonly known as a "fly"). They generally eat rotting meat, but some species are parasitic and eat living tissue. As with most larvae once they've matured enough they metamorphose into a pupa which then an adult fly eventually emerges.
