Uhhh... I think for a lot of folks there's a rather high correlation with other things that are extreme turn-ons. When you crank the intimacy, tenderness, and emotional connection factor in sex up to 11 and make it so that both partners are kissing, moaning loudly, holding as tightly as they can, cuddling, hugging, and so on... for so many, that's simply amazing. It's touching. The emotional happiness of the moment makes the actual flesh contact exponentially sexier.

Pregnancy relates to that as being basically an extension of the regular intimacy. They're so close that one wants to create a separate life within another. They're so close that one wants to rub the other's body and hear stuff like "our kid's kicking". That make sense?
