Thats a kind of bat tail actually. They can be thin like a labrador but very short or fluffy numb like a goat and bunny. He surly is a combination of an Owl and a Bat for sure.
Also i love it how hes canonly wagging his tail when excited and happy like thats just pure cuteness that shouldnt only be for dogs for sure

Yes, though while I’m not an expert on the anatomy of all bats, I know many species also have a membrane between their legs and tail, so I wasn’t sure how “anatomically correct” his tail being completely separate is.

Actually, upon closer inspection, Onyn Ring's design is strikingly like Foxglove's from Chip and Dale RR. She also has designs where her wings are like hands at times and has kinda the same ear design. It does make me wonder if they got their inspirations from her.

Kinda make sense, Bat's wings are actually elongated fingers with membranes, so would fit give them some dexterity (unlike birds which fingers dissapeared leaving mostly the palm)
