    Gonna guess he caught feelings and she put him down harshly on the basis of just the age gap. He probably felt slighted cause he was a legal adult and saw the age gap as irrelevant and hated still being treated like a child and felt he was discarded.
    My best guess.

    I also want to say that James appears to be putting in slightly extra effort to NOT sexualize this Agatha character. Judging by the wedding ring on Agatha's hand, I don't think there is any naughty business ahead, I genuinely think this is a character development chapter. Kudos, James.

    You're probably right that they aren't going to smash anymore, but Agatha seemed a bit flirtatious in that last page. Also, it'd be a bit strange for a chapter to not contain at least one major sex scene, so if nothing else we'll probably see a flashback of them hooking up.

    Having the flashback where he’s talking about bringing beer to his 18th birthday followed immediately by him in present day saying that he doesn’t drink alcohol combined with the serious tension between them and the obvious highlighting of their age difference in the flashback is sending shivers down my spine

    This is masterful storytelling
