TLIID 514. Calvin and Hobbes meet Mafalda
Girls and boys, you might not know about this one. Humor me for a bit.
About a week ago, Quino, probably the most famous argentinian cartoonist ever (and on of the very best of Latin America) passed away. That was his pseudonym, of course. His most famous creation is Mafalda, a little girl who loves the Beatles, hates soup, has a very eclectic group of friends, and is deeply concerned about politics and global problems. She was created in the late 60s, a really bad time in Argentina. So, that's the context. Quino stopped publishing her around 1974, but she's quite relevant even today. A lot of her strips were kind of the original political viral memes.
So, that's her. I thought she and Calvin could have fun together. Well worth tracking down. Quino was not only hilarious, also tremendously clever.
