  • If dittos can reproduce with the pokemon they take shape as, then how is the species considered endangered?

Surely 2 dittos could repopulate any species without the need of the actual species, as long as it isn't the case that dittos cannot reproduce if they're mating with another ditto.

Also, I thought that the female pokemon's species was the decider of what the species in the egg would be? So since this Haxoraus is male, Mr. Scientist wouldn't have to take into account that this species of Haxorous is not able to reproduce with other pokemon, because it would be impossible to get a Haxoraus egg without a female anyway?

Canonically Ditto can only take on the shape of a Pokemon based on their visual appearance. It doesn't replicate anything outside of that. It makes mistakes when it's copying by memory instead of what it can see. Two Ditto cannot repopulate species just by copying a different Pokemon and then breeding with another Ditto. Not canonically but in my comic, Ditto function as a giant amoeba/bacteria cross. In science, you can use bacteria to make clones of plasmids (DNA). A Ditto can be used to collect gametes from another species to make a 'clone' with those cells. Creating multi-cellular clones in real life does not result in a 1:1 match, just as it does not with Dittos. This is why the offspring can have different stats, sex, and even appearance. A lot of embryotic factors play into how a person will be even if you're twins. That's why a clone will never truly be 1:1 from a Ditto. I don't know where you got the info regarding the female species stuff. Canonically, doesn't matter what sex the Pokemon is pairing to the Ditto. Ditto has no sex. In my comic, Ditto is the one that produces the child regardless of sex of the mate.

Thanks for explaining it. Really enjoying the comic so far.

  • Poor guy. First the Bisharp he was forced to serve for many years fucked around with his daughter, then he had to go to court because he killed a bunch of the people who murdered a lot of his species, was sentenced to death because of it, was only saved from the death penalty because his species is endangered, and is now being forced to breed to try and produce more of his species. And he doesn't even get to breed with someone who will engage in small talk with him.
