Maybe its just me, but I feel like a world this discriminatory against Pokemon and their trainers wouldn't.... last. Like, they're discriminating against creatures equipped with war crimes

Yeeeea but then they have responses equipped with warcrimes.
I don't know if I would believe in discrimination against poke-relationships in that world, we know there are pokemon that are straight up more conscious and Intelligent than humans, and they have been established as perfectly sentient beings all the way through.
Maybe if the world is built around gen 1 anime logic, where everything is a bit more feral... but still.
Though frankly, even in our world people discriminate against relationships with other people just based on gender or skin color. So it's probably not that farfetched either.

Even with some of the feral ones, it wouldn't be all that different. I mean, Buneary only evolve if they like you enough, and Eevee evolves into Sylveon in basically the same way.
